What is Starlink?

Starlink is a next-generation internet service that uses satellite communication. In urban and suburban areas of Dhaka, and even in locations where traditional communication infrastructure is difficult to deploy, Starlink can provide high-speed and stable internet connectivity as long as the associated antenna is installed outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Why is Starlink needed in Dhaka?

Issues with local communication infrastructure

There are around 2,000 internet service providers, and the quality of service varies significantly.
Difficulty in securing a stable network environment
Communication outages occur frequently.
Communication shutdown in August 2024 for political reasons

To provide a stable communication environment, KDDI Dhaka began offering the corporate satellite communication service Starlink as an authorized commercial reseller starting in September 2025.
