Needs Achieving Carbon Neutrality

We support your first steps toward a carbon-neutral future, starting with CO2 reduction.

 Achieving Carbon Neutrality

Why Efforts Towards Carbon Neutrality Are Important

Carbon neutrality means achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. To combat global warming and climate change, the world aims to limit the average temperature increase to no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2050. To reach this goal, countries are tightening regulations on greenhouse gas emissions and adopting the latest technologies for reduction.

The KDDI Group helps you achieve carbon neutrality in your business, from visualization to reduction of CO2 emissions.

  • Net-zero target by 2050
  • Mandatory sustainability report disclosure for listed companies starting in 2022
2023: Finance, agriculture, food, forestry, energy industries
    2024: Materials, construction, transportation industries
  • ISSB adaptation planned from 2025, with Scope 3 data disclosure expected from 2026
  • Carbon tax introduced in 2019, expected to increase to $50-80 by 2030

Challenges in Carbon Neutrality

Efforts toward carbon neutrality require a comprehensive approach, including IT services in the processes of visualization, reduction, and alternatives/offsets.

CO2 emissions reduction is required across the entire supply chain related to business activities.
Particularly, Scope 3 (*Note 1), involving the reduction of emissions in the supply chains of other companies, often accounts for 80% of total CO2 emissions, necessitating significant reduction efforts.

However, calculating emissions reductions for other companies is complex and difficult to visualize, and 60% of companies (*Note 2) have not been able to disclose their efforts related to Scope 3.
Thus, leveraging IT services is necessary to visualize and reduce CO2 emissions across the entire supply chain.

Do You Face Challenges Like These?

  • With increasing demands for environmental consideration, pursuing sustainability is a significant challenge for companies, but taking the first step is not easy. We assist in realizing carbon neutrality in your business, from visualizing and analyzing CO2 emissions to exploring and implementing reduction strategies.
Preparation for Calculation
  • Unsure where to start
  • Managing Scope 1 and 2 with Excel but finding Scope 3 challenging
  • Different management formats and data units per site, making aggregation complex
CO2 Emission Visualization
  • Reliance on Excel leading to knowledge silos, and occurrence of data entry errors.
  • Concerned about the appropriateness of calculation logic
  • Insufficient use of the latest emission factors and primary data
Analysis and Reporting
  • Uncertain if calculation results are correct
  • Calculated emissions but unable to perform analysis
  • Lacking knowledge on how to respond to evaluation agency reports
